Hello everyone!
So, I did my grand 25 in 25 broad goals for the year but let's see how I'm breaking down writing specific tasks for just January:
1) Continue Developmental Editing for New Witch on Campus: I created a massive outline for New Witch, which is the second book in my Witches of Coolersville series. Working with my editor friend to make more changes so I can draft like mad
2) Start coming up with cover ideas: I want this release to happen THIS YEAR so I am going to figure out cover ideas. And then, once the interior is how I want it, I can make the outside look pretty and it's easier to do that with ideas already on hand.
3) Up my promo game: This may take some brain picking of friends and listening to podcasts and reaching out to people far smarter and more successful than me. But, one of the goals I wrote down in another notebook is hitting a certain income goal. Between book sales, Substack, Twitch ads, I have a number in mind that I want to hit so I am closer to quitting the weekend job. Or, even if I can't quit, that's a bonus buffer of guaranteed money that goes toward home expenses. And then what's earned in other places goes back into the business and debt paydown. And, I can't hit that number if nobody knows about my stuff!
So, like I said, I'll be reaching out to people to see how better to promote my work without spamming "Buy my book!" all over the Interwebs. I also figure that putting this out there, even if I’m keeping the exact number to myself, will give the Universe a hint? Maybe? One can hope.
4) Slowly prep "The Halloween One": That is my temporary title for book 3 in my series. It takes place around Halloween. If I can take a few days and outline, when I get into developmental edits, I can work in those changes easier. And, if all goes as planned, it can be next year's launch.
I think that's a good start for this month. Peanut goes back to school Tuesday so I'll have my Twitch Office Hours back. Although, I might do an extended one on Monday but that's TBD. But, normal office hours should be most days from 9-1:30/2ish Eastern time. So, if you see me online, come say hi and work with me.
