Summer Writing Update
Car Crap, Fiction Returning, A Day of Inspiration and Escape... as long as it doesn't rain
Hello, everyone,
It has been a hot minute since I’ve had an update but I’m hard at work on plans and wanted to share them. Partly to keep myself accountable. Should I go back to posting my goals and what I did each week? I know they’re not the most exciting reads and Sunday posts, in general, don’t get many views on this platform as a whole. But, I kinda feel like they helped keep me on track. And, I need that after getting completely thrown off yesterday.
Took my car in for regular maintenance and found out I also needed brakes on top of it. Long story about not being informed. It’s a nightmare I won’t get into it because my darling husband reads this and we’ll both get frazzled again. Let’s just say that 6 hour and $1800 later, I have renewed ambition to get my words out there so I can make some quarters.
So, I’ll be spending today working out a plan to finish my revisions of “Adventurers of Thira” so it can be released on this platform again. Next month if possible. I already have the first three chapters written. And then, in the fall, when Kiddo goes back to school, I’ll dive back into edits for “New Witch on Campus” so that can come out next year.
“Adventurers” won’t be as polished. That’s my escape and play story. It’s outlandish and fun and I’m sharing it in serial for the love of the story. I finally figured out how to end book 2 in a way that’s not too convoluted and confusing and that made me so happy. And once books 1 and 2 are scheduled, I can work on planning the rest of the series.
I’m going to be taking a day next month to get some inspiration. I’m going out to the Great Lakes Medieval Faire. It’s a smaller festival, and only about an hour from my house. It was the first faire I went to in 2021 with my best friend and her oldest and I wanted to go again to just have some time and soak up the vibes until I go to Michigan in September. Sort of a day retreat. Already bought my ticket. Might bring a little cash for food and to get a couple trinkets but nothing too extravagant. I might take a notebook with me as well. Sit and write while listening to a band or watching the joust. And, make the occasional TikTok.
Oh! And, I made another dress! I was dog sitting last week for my mom and made another dress. I’ll share pictures in another post. I used the same pattern, except I squared the neckline and widened the skirt panels a bit. And, I made the bodice front lacing. If I wear a petticoat underneath, I can get the skirt floof I’ve been trying for. I might wear it for the Medieval Faire. As much as I love the black starry fabric, that is going to be miserable in July. Even if it is cotton.
I have enough fabric in my stash for 2 more dresses for myself and I promised Peanut I’d make her one, too. And then, after the Ren Faire in September, I’ll save up a little for more material. I found some velvet on Etsy that I think would make really pretty dresses for winter. And, once I declutter my office enough, I can set up my sewing machine, learn how to properly use it, and there will be no stopping me because I won’t have to hand sew everything anymore.
So, yeah, lots to look forward to in the coming weeks and months so keep an eye out. Thank you to everyone who continues to read this. If anyone is compelled to do so, I do have a paid reader option. Once my fiction is released, it will be available for 2 weeks to paid readers before it’s available to everyone. And, let me know if the Sunday accountability posts are something you’d like to see return. I want to get better at regular writing on here again.
